Dems Can’t Say Who Leads the Party

Who is the leader of the Democrats? You would think that, nine months on from their loss in the presidential election, there would be some level of consensus. And you’d be wrong.

The latest instance of a Democrat blanking on party leadership came from Terry McAuliffe, Virginia governor and close associate of the Clintons. In an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, he was asked to name the party’s leader at the moment.

It didn’t take long for things to get super-awkward.

“I think there are many leaders of the Democratic Party,” McAuliffe said.

“Give me a name, Governor. Give me a name,” host Katy Tur insisted
