Tragic News about Fallen Army Green Beret

You probably didn’t hear much about this story as so much attention has been directed towards Obama’s ill-advised executive order…but American special forces in Afghanistan have been under attack.

At the beginning of the week, army forces were engaged in a battle with local insurgents.

As they fought, vastly out-numbered and appearing to gain the upper hand one of members of the team was struck and killed.

The name of the fallen Green Beret has just been released.

Read this and share it so people can know his name and his great courage.

Fox News writes:

A veteran Green Beret has been identified as the American Special Ops soldier who was killed in a fierce firefight in southern Afghanistan Monday.

Staff Sgt. Matthew McClintock, 30, died in the battle in Helmand Province, while two more American service members were wounded.

A rescue helicopter ended up being disabled as it flew in to rescue the American soldiers, leaving the U.S. forces – along with Afghan soldiers – trapped for hours in a compound surrounded by the enemy.

McClintock, who was on his third combat tour as a member of the Washington National Guard’s 19th Special Forces Group, leaves behind a wife and infant son.

“The death of any service member is tragic,” Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said. “The death of one of our own is especially difficult to grasp. My thoughts and prayers are with Staff Sergeant McClintock’s friends and family, including his wife and infant son. He is a true American hero who stood up to protect his state and nation.”

“He left behind the love of his life, his wife of 3 years Alexandra, and his 3 month old son Declan. Allie put it best with: ‘Yesterday I lost the love of my life, Declan lost his father, we all lost a loved one. My husband Matthew was killed in action. Matthew’s greatest wish was to be a father, a husband, and a green beret. He got to do all of those things in his too short life. Declan will grow up knowing his father was the greatest man I’ve ever dreamed to know and a hero.”

A GoFundMe page was created to assist McClintock’s wife and infant son.

This is an absolute tragedy and one that’ll probably be passed over in favor of another, more favorable story.

Most Americans forget thousands and thousands of American veterans have put it all on the line in the name of freedom. They sacrificed everything so we might be able to live free.

For that we’re eternally grateful.
